In need of more footage :)

We have found ourselves in need of more footage for our music video. Using the lyrics, me and Michael sat down and thought of an idea which would require using the drama studio and/ or the one of the school halls.

In the song there is a bit where it says, 'now i'm ripping up shows and them fans going wild with us' and for this part we thought that we could have Matt and Theo on stage, rapping to an audience. For this we would need to organise a few people to help us out, so today I asked a couple of my friends if they could help us out and perform in our music video. Currently, three people agreed to helping us but we need a couple more in order to create a real feeling of a crowd at a concert in the music video. This is the effect we would like to achieve...

Weather problems

This week we've been having some problems because of the weather therefore we couldn't film a lot of good footage. We didn't go out during the days it was raining because there was no way we would agree to having rain in our music video. So we have to wait a couple more days for sunshine. In this time we will be filming things we can when it's not raining.

Costume

The outfitting choices we have made for this music video are highly typical of the Hip-Hop Fashion culture. Things like hooded jumpers, known brand footwear, baseball caps, sunglasses and so on. However, we have taken a more modern to this. Given that high end fashion house brands such as Gucci, Chanel, Louis Vuitton and Armani have become more popular in hip hop culture since the early 2000's, we have decided to add a more upmarket element to our video in terms of clothing. Things like sports coats, formal wear (think shirts, ties, shoes, blazers etc), real (or imitation) eyeglasses and expensive outerwear (such as trench coats, parka jackets, double breasted jackets and the like).

<---Will smith was a popular hip hop artist in the late 80's before production began on "The fresh prince of Bel Air".
<---This guy has seemingly fused "Hipster" with retro Hip Hop styling. Notice the imitation eyeglasses.
<---Jay-Z sporting a Leather jacket and baseball cap.

I myself am not an avid fan of Hip-Hop or Rap music, my musical taste lies within the boundaries of Punk, Rock and Heavy Metal, and so the clothing styles from those genres have had a fair effect on my personal outfitting choices for this video (generally dark clothing, such as black Jeans, Shirts, Spikes, Piercings, Camouflage clothing, and thick Boots). My two group members, Agata and Mat are however fans of Hip Hop music, which no doubt cause a fair number of clashed in regards to clothing styles, but, as the artist of the original music video (Chiddy bang) is not your run of the mill Rapper, his style is somewhat more alternative than hip hop. In the following images, notice how Chiddy wears a baseball cap, keeping to one of the fashion trends of some of the slightly older artists.

Note the shirt and tie that both Chiddy (left) and Xaphoon Jones (right) are wearing as evidence of the changing clothing style of modern Hip Hop artists.
Checkered shirts are more of a fashion trend associated with people who define themselves as "Hipster" or "Alternative".
Leather jackets have long been associated with Bikers and to a certain extent, Punks, but as you can see, rap artists are flocking to them in greater quantities than ever before, perhaps a sign that hip hop is changing for the better.

Genre

It is difficult to define our chosen song in just one genre, as it contains elements of a variety of different genre's, including Electronica, Alternative Hip Hop and Synthpop. each of these genres adds certain elements to the music, which allows said music to move away from the common genre stereotypes. the artists in question, Chidera "Chiddy" Anamege, and Noah "Xaphoon Jones" Beresin are known for using musical samples from a wide variety of artists, across multiple genres, including the band MGMT (psychedelic rock), singer Ellie Goulding (Indie Pop), and Rapper Tinie Tampah (Grime).
